PAD’NARAM - A poem from a local

Updated: Jul 11, 2023

"PAD’NARAM"

Big city is the place to be

A world of opportunity

For those of us without a clue

What kind of life we should pursue

The stars align, I find success

Life goes from frugal to excess

Big isn’t what I want at all

My brain says big, my heart says small

The weekends prove my path was wrong

Pad’naram is where I belong

The slower pace, each friendly face

Then Sunday night back in the race

Big city traffic slows to a crawl

My heart yearns for a town that’s small

Big city gets the best of me

But I climb up the corporate tree

Taking on a leadership role

And soon I have complete control

Office prices become obscene

We all use a computer screen

Let’s work from home and save some dough

And no one ever has to know

The weekends weren’t enough for me

Pad’naram’s where I had to be

The slower pace, each friendly face

Sunday night, that Portuguese place

Table for two against the wall

My heart soars in a town that’s small.
